The What
The Training Security Operations Center (TSOC) will follow an experiential learning model staffed by resident CS students who will learn under the guidance with TSOC Engineers. Students in our SOC program gain direct experience by working in our live security operations environment while serving clients across the state. As part of the team, students monitor network traffic, identify potential security threats, and respond to incidents in real-time.
The Why
Despite a growing interest in Cybersecurity and emerging university programs, there is a skill gap that is expanding in the security field. Students who graduate find it difficult to adapt to a working environment due to the scale and setting of a working environment. This unique learning opportunity was developed to provide students with real-world experience of working in a SOC environment and help bridge the gap between classroom learning and on-field training.
The How
TSOC establishes partnerships with vendors for security monitoring services and serves clients outside the university at lowcost. It may also offer training services to other members of the community.
TSOC also offer an opportunity to develop and evaluate R&D projects in an operational setting.
